David Were, known to many as Sleek Whizz is an urban Kenyan musician known for his unique style of fusing hip hop and afro music (but would rather let his fans decide the genre of his music depending on how they connect to it). Born and raised in a musical family here in Nairobi, Sleek Whizz attributes most of his inspiration to the music and artists he grew up listening to (Radio and Wessel from Uganda, Lil Wayne, Westlife and Xxxtentacion).

Sleek Whizz started making music in primary just like his brothers and sisters – though for his siblings they didn’t pursue music as a profession as he did. In high school this love developed more and when he joined MKU to study IT, Sleek dropped out of university to fully focus on music for it’s the place where his love and passion were.

Sleek Whizz joined Sauti Academy (one of the most elite music schools in Africa) where he graduated amongst the elites as an incredible performer. He released his debut song in 2017 called “Girlfriend” which according to Sleek Whizz it was inspired by his then love. He followed up with other major releases like Leo, Medicine and more. Sleek Whizz success has been visible as he has been able to gain noticeable streams across different music streaming sites.

For any artist releasing of major projects that is Eps, Lps, Albums and even mixtapes always are a dream. Sleek Whizz was no different as in 2020 during COVID 19 pandemic him with friends started a recording studio just an addition to his movement SLEEK FORMATION. This provided him with the solution of challenges when it came to recording in other studios.
