Blu Lace 16 is not afraid of exploring his roots as they are part of him and since he spent most of his childhood in Nanyuki and his adulthood in Nairobi it will be of great use for him to connect again with his roots.

At an age of 3, Blu Lace 16 joined Nursery school to mark the genesis of his education journey. After one year in nursery, Blu Lace 16 joined Mt. Kenya Baptist School where he graduated with Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) after 8 years.

Music

Blu Lace 16 grew up in a musical household and this formed a humble environment for the love of music and growth into the art. At the age of 11, Blu Lace 16 discovered he can make melodies. This was a turning point for him as he went on to write a couple of pieces that he performed in school presentations – both primary and secondary – and for his friends and family. Blu Lace 16 gained a following in the local hip – hop scene performing in different venues from school days to underground events and releasing singles that caught the attention of fans and the hip hop industry at large.

At 16, Blu Lace 16 decided that music was his calling and he felt it was the right time for him to venture into it as a career. This was during his days in secondary school – The Nairobi School. It was at this time he met Mista Ree another music lover and together they joined hands to form Chozen Gang (2016) that grew into one of the biggest hip hop movement now Deep State Mob (DSM).

The different musical affiliated clubs in school, the talent shows and music festivals both in and out of school (both primary and secondary) made Blu Lace 16 fall in love more and more with music.

To Blu Lace 16, music is one of the things that comes naturally to him and it comes before the money, fame or anything else, for him it starts with music and ends with music. His unique style of music – both in production, song writing , singing and rapping –  is mainly motivated by word play (rhyming), melodies, rhythm, and the deep massage that he wants to pass to the music universe. Messages in his music are both as a result of his own experiences, what he has seen other people go through especially those closer to him and just random happenings.
